FATIGUE
Fatigue is one of the most common modes of failure, especially for machinery. But it also affects
large structures, such as bridges, buildings, and offshore structures.
J.L. GROVER
has over 25 years of experience with fatigue, especially fatigue of weldments. He has
published a number of papers on fatigue of weldments.
Past projects include:
- Development of fracture-mechanics based fatigue design methodology for offshore structures
- Design, fabrication and installation of pre-cracked fatigue specimens on offshore platform and evaluation after 10 years in service
- Analysis of fatigue failures in rotating equipment (pumps, turbines)
- Fatigue analysis of weld defects in bridges
- Evaluation of creep-fatigue in power plant piping
